Lead Rubber Bearing was invented in New Zealand in 1976 by Prof. Dr. William Robinson. He sold its patent to Japan and USA in 1980s. Therefore, the usage of LRBs were increased in the World. LRBs have been used much more than than the other seismic isolator types (especially in Japan). As LRBs are closed to atmosphere and do not have movable parts, they are maintenance free. Known life time has been around 100 years and more so far. EMKE has been suplying Dynamic Isolation Systems Inc. (DIS), Robinson Seismic Ltd. (NZ) and Kawakin Core Technologies (Japan) LRBs in Turkey.
